Not without imperfection

I'll be the first to tell you that I'm married to a woman with a "green thumb". An uncanny knack of getting something (anything) to grow.

Watching Samantha in the flowers is a joy. The flowers are usually "vased-up" all around our home..lighting it up with color.

That "thumb" is pretty evident as you look out the back door too.. I can hardly get off the porch for all the plants and flowers.

Case in point: the picture below is of several gorgeous Orange Coreopses..

Very vibrant and alive when contrasted with the brown dry grass of the yard. This summer has been a tough one. (The grass is my job..and not so green!)

These coreopsis remind me of my marriage (and others I know).. Vibrant, Colorful, Rooted and Blooming (still).. Not without imperfection, but continually pruning, weeding and watering makes all the difference. Always tending to be done..

In contrast.. many marriages we run across or hear about are Troubled, Struggling, Withering and needing a Drink.

They see the imperfection too, but may be just too tired to prune and weed. So much potential..but too busy I guess. Certainly, there is always more to it..

Some say "the grass is greener".. But I think maybe it's just needs a little water and a green thumb..

There's too much value (years) in all that soil to just let the weeds takeover..

Happy gardening!

He cuts off every branch of me that doesn't bear grapes. And every branch that is grape-bearing he prunes back so it will bear even more. (John 15:2 MSG)
