Lawrence, KS and Cottonwood Falls, KS

We went on an awesome trip a few weeks ago to Kansas City, dropped off the kids and then drove to Lawrence, Kansas. From there traveled on to Council Grove and Cottonwood Falls and then back down Highway 81 to El Reno!

Beautiful country and incredible company!

Here are some of our pics:

Old Courthouse-ish buildings in downtown Lawrence,KS

This is the remodeled version of the same house Samantha's dad lived in while at KU!

Oh yes, this is the hill he had to climb every day to class!!

This one speaks for itself. #jayhawk

The old theater downtown Lawrence, KS. (cool downtown)

We left Lawrence and headed West on 56! Some of the prettiest country was between Lawrence and this town, Overbrook,KS. The tallgrass was so tall you could just barely see the cattle! Real beautiful!!

Stopped in Council Grove for some DQ!

My awesome DQ date!

National Tallgrass Prairie Preserve

Awesome barn built in the late 1880's for $15,000..that's like $500k in today's dollars.

 Cool sign on the road!

Sunset just North of Cottonwood Falls!

Last but not least..yours truly at the city named after me.. HaHa!

Ever been confused?

I ran across this sign in Cottonwood Falls, KS earlier this week and it made me chuckle.

I'm sure Richard totally understands his available times to barber, etc. But it is funny how many times we (all) do or say things that make total sense to us but are very confusing to others.

I'm sure my kids could provide examples of me doing this too.

FYI: Cottonwood Falls is a great place situated in the National Tallgrass Prairie...I'd recommend you visit. I'll post several pics soon taken on our recent trip.

RANDOM SHOTS - WI

Just a few random pictures from my stay in Madison and weekend trip to Milwaukee!

This first one is a shot of the capitol building in downtown Madison.

I took a few early morning walks and this is just a random street with homes where students will be living in a few weeks.

The Madison Farmers Market was really quite incredible. This is just one of the many beautiful stands of veggies I experienced. Unfortunately, very few free samples!

Just a random picture of me taking a picture at an old parking garage in my travails to Milwaukee..

It got to be pretty late walking around on my trip to Milwaukee.. At this point I was watching people across the street in an open air restaurant. They could just slide the entire front of the place open.. Very cool!

Just thought this was a cool painted sign in downtown Milwaukee.

Took this one just last night in Madison. Lots of cool neon and I love "The Exclusive Company" statement..

On my way back to my condo (ok, dorm room) I walk across an overpass.. this is my view from up top.

This is the Pres House on the UW campus. It is a church focused on student ministry.

You can grab a great burger at the Memorial Union on campus. I ate there tonight and this was my view..

Take pictures and share them on your next trip. I really enjoy it.

NOTE: All pictures were taken using my regular iPhone4 camera or the app called "Hipstamatic".

ROADTRIP TO MILWAUKEE!

Nice day for a roadtrip! C'mon, let's do this..

I opted to catch the official "Badger Bus" from Madison to Milwaukee and have a little adventure. $38 bucks.. COOL, our bus driver (Dick) has just announced that we have FREE WIFI on the bus..

Not surprising, since this IS a LUXURY LINER!!

Never been to Milwaukee so I suppose that's why I'm going...simply to say I've been. I figure that there is no way to experience a place until you experience it like local folk. Yes, it is home to many breweries and one of my all time favorite shows.. "Laverne & Shirley"!

The last bus leaves Milwaukee tonight (back to Mad City) at about 8:30.. So I either spend the night there or catch the bus. My return ticket is good for a year, so there's no wasted cash if I opt to stay..

I'm also doing a vlog of the trip.. Hope you get to see it on YouTube - "jaythebanker".

Traveling mercies..
